Fear of Finding
By Philip Sidney
- 2582 reads
Fear of finding the past
is why
boxes of papers sit
waiting,
until they are
invisible,
silent
colourless ink
seeps
from the depths
bleeds
into dark bloody dreams
speaking truths
thought forgotten.
The boxes still wait
in patience,
unalterable,
as time reinvents itself
into the present.

Hi Helen
There is so much hidden within this little poem. Very deep and very lovely.

In an age of electronic media "...boxes of papers sit waiting..."
That's the beauty of paper, tactile dreams to be read at leisure.

I thought this very evocatively worded too. Though whether reading such would really clarify or sort out or just raise more questions I wonder. There is so much of the past that we can't really sort out with human limitations. Rhiannon

Very good. A lot of these two to three words per line enjambmed poems are thin and pretentious. This is by far from thin and pretentious. Confidence oozes here and delivers a much needed rush of truth and honesty.
Really well done Philip.
