Profligacy- liberty- prerogative- laissez faire.
Agonized- mutilated- lacerated, they don't care.
Where is the consideration?
Correction of justice, the compensation.
They beat me- cheat me- deciet me.
Yet, never will they ever defeat me.
(Chorus)
We never triumphed, conquered or gained.
To this faithful day, everything remains the same.
The only liberty I have is the pouring rain.
Du Bois, it was his choice.
Malcom X, it was his voice.
Luther king, he showed no rejoice.
Is it them or is it me?
One thing is for sure,
Rosa parks would never let this be.
African-American,
am I even affirmative or sure.
That I'm American, with rights to live.
With the power not to take but to give.
We are all the same.
What is the gain?
If you disrespect me,
You just disrespect us.
Civil rights happened,
Only result is I'm on a bus.
(Chorus)
We never triumphed, conquered or gained.
To this faithful day, everything remains the same.
The only liberty I have is the pouring rain.
Du Bois, it was his choice.
Malcom X, it was his voice.
Luther king, he showed no rejoice.
Is it them or is it me?
One thing is for sure,
Rosa parks, would never let this be.
