Prayer

I thank you Lord for my birth,
And everything that has followed.
I thank you Lord today,
And I will pray for tomorrow.
I thank you Lord for the love of a friend,
I made a promise and loving my wife till the end.

I thank you Lord for your guidance, it counts.
‘Cause right here this world is your house.
You’re the cat and dominate, keeping us rats in line.
Restoring world peace is the only thing on your mind.

We turn to war when we should be building bridges,
We should feed the poor but we resort to fillin’ our fridges.
God, your soul is embedded deeply in our thoughts,
Yet we struggle to contemplate what these scriptures mean.

I thank you Lord for a dream that came true to light,
Even though the man who had this dream was shot in daylight.
I think back to the days when violence to some was a remedy,
And because I think of that now I pray sincerely for my enemy.

I’ve been enlightened to your message Lord,
I will not now abuse it, nor will I lead them astray.
I’ll love those who hate like I love my son everyday.
If you get us through this bad weather we’ll love you forever,
Let your thought and my heart go hand in hand,
‘Cause spiritual truth is the desire of every human man.
