Throat Cancer

I swear I've got a lump growing in my throat,
But like a boat in treturous waters, I’m staying a float.
It starts off with a chronic sore,
An ulcer, numb tongue or a swollen jaw,
It's the kind of thing you could just ignore,
But those small cells aren’t so small anymore.
The whole health talk in class, I didn’t buy it,
Smoked, drank and had a fat man’s diet.
A dentist or a doc could’ve helped my health,
But I was too occupied by intoxicating myself.
When and where it attacks, you have no choice,
Will it be your glands, your tongue or the box of your voice?
Mine was them all, and now I cannot speak,
Lying on a hospital bed, fragile and weak.
Would a healthy lifestyle be so bad?
Would visiting a dentist on the regular make you mad?
This isn’t a comedy full of sarcastic banter,
This is real life, this is throat cancer.
