An atheist’s prayer
P K Routray
Oh God! Intently and intensely in misery for you, pray and cry we
but never in our difficulties your presence to help us physically we see.
Reconcile and adjust we to the obstacles over time with endurance
lose we our loving ones and live with broken heart, hoping for good with patience.
None of our senses ear, eye, tongue, nose or skin senses you
still unwise people claim, you are there and you are true.
We have power or we are poor, we achieve success or we face failure,
We feel heat or cold soft or sharp with feeling of pain or pleasure,
We see beauty also nasty; hear good and bad too,
taste sweet and sour, smell foul and fair, which one of them are you?
Tell us, whether you are there in church, mosque or temple,
whether you are one or a million and also with whom you resemble.
Seven million species exist on the earth with man as one,
see we, you are only prayed and propitiated, other than man by none.
For any belief resort we to faith or logic
logic proves you do not exist but faith sees you only in magic.
Why should I waste my time in worshipping you?
Please come out with your counter arguments if you are true
