Cruelty
P K Routray
With timidity and humility
a deer begs human mercy.
With its grace and agility
It adds to the creation, the beauty.
A dear in a group or alone, standing or on the run
to an onlooker it is a sight worth cherishing for divine fun.
Can we imagine a forest without fauna but with only flora
without deer, wild animals and without birds in plethora?
With a deer’s innocence and inherent trait of nonviolence
It merits the reciprocation of non violence and non vengeance.
Instead we human beings hunt it to enjoy
It is certainly an act of cruelty at the devilish peak, we must say.
