Final Goal
P K Routray
With its grandeur and beauty,
on its banks trees with fruits and flowers in bounty,
on a serpentine path flows a river
with swimming fishes and dancing waves of water.
Adorning its banks on its way many hamlets and forests, thick and thin
with many of its branches flowing out and many tributaries flowing in
at places with illuminated towns acting as evening necklace
the river rushes in to the sea with its sublime grace.
The mountain tells “Hey River! You are mine as my daughter
as you come out from me tearing my breast as a child from its mother”.
The aqua creatures tell the river “You are ours as our mother”,
And each creation on its banks treats the river as its own sister.
But the river silently flows with one goal and one ambition to merge with ocean
shaking off claims and attachment from all as it thinks ocean only as its own.
From ocean only its soul as water has once separated out through vapors and rain
Hence it rushes to ocean to unite its soul with super soul as a long separation it cannot sustain.
