A Lie
P K Routeay
A lie has been
a child’s sin,
a parents’ easiest path
to avoid the child’s wrath,
a grown up boy’s usual tool
for his acts to make parents fool,
a parents oft repeated role
to bring his progeny in under control,
a young man’s emotional expression
for his love marriage, to get parents’ sanction,
distressed, mal treated parents’ glory
to keep satisfied with bride’s story,
married man’s trap of exploitation of affection
to stay away from old parents with agreed option,
old partents internal consent with smiles
to have company of old pals they prefer to stay away by miles
or go to old age home with no cost to son or daughter
after all they are old hale and hearty nothing to bother
a man’s river of love regard and respectful tear
during the death of parents, he could not be near.
parents love and affection for his progeny
they are on spiritual path without attachment any.
The worst of lies tells the ailing, penniless mother
“Hey son! I am ok, please take your care, for me do not bother”
The best of lies tells the son in not answering mother’s many a phone call,
or as per him the old lady is well, he is on official tour and phone does not work at all.
( N.B It is referred to a society where joint family cultur still exists. The society expects the son or daughter to take care of their old parents.)
