Smiles from Heaven
(Imagining a group of boys playing after examination)
P K Routray
A playing session is on,
over is the examination,
friends are with frolic and fun.
far off is the start of next session
further one year then is the examination
for class promotion, hopefully no detention.
Monotony of class room lesson,
teachers’ tasks and strenuous action,
early morning leaving the bed frustration,
evening boring home task preparation,
so forth and so on,
all have peacefully gone.
“For science we have no tension
we can get by heart, night before examination.
Literature requires least attention
with only grammar as exception,
mathematics will be no more burden,
after a year by one year it will be grown,
seeking to its problem its own solution
It will be our mothers and fathers’ botheration
for the success of their daughter and son.
Government has put a ban on teachers ‘stick and cane
standing on the bench and boxing the ears are also on wane.
We propose for no class, no examination but only game and play
to make each of us happy, bright and wonderful girl or boy.”
“Come on let us jump, run and play out door till the setting of the sun
then sing and dance, chat and watch cartoons, eating chocolate in ton.”
