"What are you doing?" she asked
"Washing my hair" the lady replied
"Again? Didn't you wash it this morning?"
"Yes, again!"
"What's the occasion?"
"Occasion?"
"For you to spruce yourself up?"
"Does there need to be one?"
"If it's you" she paused to smile, "Yes!"
"Oh come on"
"Well?"
"Well, we're going to the party later right?"
"Yes," she paused to ponder, "Wait a minute, you're not interested in someone?"
"Well," the lady smiled sincerely to herself, "Maybe"
"Maybe? Who is it?"
"Well, I don't know him"
"You don't know him?" she shouted in astonishment, "You must know his name?"
"Ok," the lady nodded carefully to keep the shampoo in place, "His name is !@£$"
"And?"
"What do you mean 'and?', that's all"
"Really?"
"Yes!" the lady flinched as her eyes stunk from the foam, "I haven't even spoken to him"
"Well," she sipped her curiosity, "Do I know him?"
"Well," the lady thought for a genuine moment, "I don't think anyone knows him that well, he's a very reserved person"
"Like yourself?" she laughed
"Like me?" the lady replied in a offended tone
"Well, it's true, you haven't been with someone for ages"
"Well forgive me for not sleeping around, unlike someone I know!"
"Hey!" she moaned as her curiosity grew cold, "I just have a lot of passion, how can you bottle it up like you do!"
"You," the lady smirked, "Have the wrong idea of love, love isn't about some spontaneous fleeting moment of passion, it's, it's"
"My idea of love is wrong?" she interrupted, "How so, there isn't any right idea of love"
"But you do go about it on lust, love should be refined, I want to find someone I know I can spend the rest of my life with, but just one night"
"Even if it takes all your life to find one guy!"
"Even if it isn't a guy!" the lady laughed
"I don't get it" she sighed
"What?"
"How you bottle it up, brand your feelings as if they're a bad thing"
"They are!"
"Why not just try some more passion?"
Later that night, she and the lady left their home to make their way to the party. Under the faint light a tramp stood begging for change. The lady steered her course away but she, but she was different. Upon the question "Spare any change?" she stood for a moment. She stared at the tramp with mercy and pity by her side. The lady stood a breath away wondering what was happening.
"I'm afraid I have no change," she replied sadden, "But please accept this"
She reached towards him and hugged him. She embraced him tightly and rested her head upon his chest. She could hear the faint beating of hope inside his chest. The tramp was speechless for a moment before resting his forehead upon her shoulders. Without pretenses he finally cried and hugged her back. Under their light they stayed for shorter than what was needed. The tramp reluctantly withdrew and then turned to the lady. Taken aback by this act she too hugged the tramp. Scared stiff with fear and worry, she cast them aside before placing her arms around the man. She felt how strangely familiar this shape was. How much it resembled a human being. Before she knew it she too started crying. The tramp placed his hand upon her head to wish away her tears. She felt strange that it was him comforting her, she rested in his arms as she felt warmth only an embrace can give. His breath was warm on her neck as she struggled to hold back her tears.
Before an hour had past, they were on their way again, and the tramp disappeared into the darkness again. She and the lady arrived at the party fashionably late and engaged in social communications. The lady had managed to be alone with her fancy.
"Do you smell something?" he asked
"Ah," the lady smiled reluctantly, "It's me"
"You? I'm sorry"
"It's fine, it's an interesting story"
"Go on"
"Well, I think I had the wrong idea of love"
"I didn't know there was one"
"Well, what do you think of love?"
"I'd like to think there is something good, but it's much like hate, it's neither good nor bad"
"I see"
"And yourself?"
"Me," the lady thought for a moment as she stared at her friend, "I think everyone should know how to hug a stranger"
