Monster in the bedroom

Monster in the bedroom
There’s a monster in the bedroom and she’s lying in our bed
She’s the reason why you snap sometimes, she’s the voice inside your head
I can hardly recognise the woman you’ve become
The tablets that they give you have made even me feel numb
I know I cannot save you, I can’t force you to win
You can't give an answer when I ask why you just give in
I know I cannot shield you, I can’t sharpen your sword
But I can make an effort and I can add my strength to yours
There’s a monster on the sofa and he’s boring you to tears
He speaks to insecurity and magnifies your fears
I know you just ignore me when I try to set you straight
I just want the ‘old’ you back but I guess I’ll have to wait
I can see you trying, you make it seem so hard
Like struggling through quick sand, yard by stinking yard
I want to say I’m proud of you, I think you ought to hear
I know you’ll think I’m lying but I’ll always be near
