Judas Preist
He counted his money
Stack by stack. Fraternised
With the well adorned
Women at the altar of shewbread.
Threw his goodwill offering
Of loose change to the
Winos and skag heads
That loitered around the
Gates of the church.
He used to be like that u no.
Homeless and destitute.
Couch surfing and glue sniffing
Scavenging bin bags for a
Morsel to eat. Hand out outside
Mc Donald’s begging loose change.
Then he found God
Or as the streets put it
God found him. He couldn’t
Get any lower really. Turning
Tricks in the local park’s
Garden of remembrance at
Twilight. To fed his drug addiction
and nourish himself.
Yes the lord found him when
He got a community order for
Gross indecency. 200 hours
Of picking up litter with the
Nonces and the petty crooks.
But that was then but now
Pays his debt to society
By singing hymns to the universe
And collecting the tithes he
Mumbles over in prayer at the
Make shift altar. Then shoves
The proceeds in his silk lined pockets
Still somethings never change
Truth of the matter he will always
Be a Judas at heart to me.
