Rendezvous

I said I wanted to do it again
words resembling that’s scratchy record in my ear
for the first time
I wasn’t accustom to the discipline
And echoing back at me was your barren womb
Saying mother knows best
I danced my life on a barbed wire fence
And navigated its blades and spikes
With carelessness
I never realised that to discipline was to truly love
As you lay your head upon my breast
And just cherished the simplicity of the moment
To go further as I had done before
But something innocent was about to be crushed
Autumn leaves beat about the car windows
We were cocooned inside our own little shell
The music on radio 2 played to the
Dictate of own starry universe
Then it happened the realisation I had gone far enough.
