Gremlins

Behind my tight shut eyelids
is a vast expanse of space.
An undulating landscape,
moving at a frightening pace.
Its presence, it surrounds me,
pulls me deep into its core.
Just when I think I’ve settled,
it expands a little more.
In the dark I sense the movement
of both energy and sound.
It swirls around my forehead,
needing me to hold my ground.
Within this flow I’m moving
towards an epiphany of light.
But my thoughts they keep disturbing,
the propulsion of my flight.
They question and they sman
from their standpoint on the ground.
They beam up their heat of judgement,
bid me turn the flight around.
But I know these little gremlins
that live within my head.
They have nothing good on offer,
they prefer the dark instead.
So, while some keep me grounded,
within the scope of their purview.
I have decided, in this lifetime,
to restrict them to a few.
