Is there colour in the darkness?
Are there pinks and blues and greens?
In your cells and in your substance,
colour lives in vibrant streams.
I am looking at my body,
its a tapestry I see,
All the colours of the rainbow,
creates the image, that is me.
There are reds, and browns and ochres,
opaque colours near the ground.
Then the blues and greens and turquoise,
lighter colours, near the crown.
Pulsating tones that flash and deepen,
as my feelings pass on by.
Then what happens? Someone enters,
and some colours rise. Some die.
Behind my lids the colours glisten,
with a light that’s all their own.
A gentle gold, with myriad colours,
seems to pass through even bone.
It seems that colour has a journey
and a purpose to pursue.
It has a life, not always visible,
in the material, which it tattoos.
