Transition – farewell

I feel I’m in a boat now,
from the harbour I am free.
There are stores around aplenty
to feed David and me.

We’ve left a lot behind us,
taken stock and set our sails.
I feel as if in some way
we are saying our farewells.

We’ve both been very guided
on our journey to this place.
But new skills are now demanded.
We’ve reached a bigger space.

We’re feeling with our fingertips.
the indentations in the sea.
We’re looking deep within it,
to adjust our eyes to see.

Farewells must be spoken,
to our companions and our guides.
But I know you’ll never leave us
you’ll be forever by our sides.

But acknowledgement is needed
as we take this profound step.
We’ve both reached this point safely
and we’re forever in your debt.

You have our love, our gratitude.
You’ve done us both real proud.
Sometimes its just worth saying
‘we love you’ way out loud.
