When looking in the mirror

You’re tumbling and you’re falling
through rivulets of rhyme,
You see the world in couplets,
rhythm beating out each line.
Life’s not always that straightforward,
with an uplift in the tail.
You may try to mould and shape it,
often to no avail.
It won’t fit within a stanza,
in a verse upon a page.
So you shut off your computer,
in a stomping off-screen rage.
For words alone can’t echo
what is beating in your breast.
A bubbling broth of anger,
that just makes you feel depressed.
You dodged some pointed comments,
put yourself out of harms way.
But the impact’s only registered,
in this cool light of day.
The path that you have chosen
proves a problem for some kin.
But who’s to say that in the future
they won’t need that light within?
So find some words of comfort
in the fact you’ve come this far.
At least, when looking in the mirror,
you know exactly who you are.
