Changes, leaves
By queen beatle
- 183 reads
On the bright side of midnight
a chill breeze beckons from
the autumn of your eyes
as the leaves change.
True, I could bury into you
neighbour the residents of
your garden soil and house
myself in your soft tissue, but
from your galled stump gash
my sapling surges up, dreaming
already of the crown shyness
intertwining all of us, and
I float to the hill's brow at
the neap tide peak and
turn to make my waves
lap away my way back.
The hours are golden, and
thoughts like these burn fast
and again, and again, and—
as the leaves change.

Seasonal Greetings
I liked the contrasts in the poem. Also, as you probably know from my poems, I like verse that evolves from one time frame or period to the next. The leaf cycle parodies our moods and emotions. Thanks for capturing that essence in your poem. Have a verry cherry day!
