The Things We Can't Hold Onto While We're Moving

Slack, drum, safe
A slicked down lizard's floating space
The trudging sunken hammer face
Platoons the warm abyss
Cold, red, white
From nothing grown to screeching light
And feeble flaps to roaring heights
You blink, and wait, and piss.
Hands, feet, hearts
A butcher's billion of body parts
The skin-slipped figures stripping past
All melting into breath ...
... and all the rest.
Eyes, touch, smile
A whisper off to last a mile
The fingers stroking camomile
As yellow, grey, bereft.

lost innocence
We all lose that innocence and naivity spontaniety of youth. But there is compensation in emotional maturity experience and intellect. We are on a journey everything changes and we too.
The (one) very crude word in my opinion is unnecessary. I detect a reference of this pandemic are you caged up at home? Like me?
Keep well and stay well! && Nolan

Pretoria
Thanks for inquiring Morwenna and for the concern. Both of us are well, we are on chronic medication but there aren't any problems with medicine or treatment. We have sufficient good healthy food, most shops are very near the neighborhood is peaceful one has more than enough rest and sleep. Although they do say that we have a high crime rate.
Both of us regard Abctales as our employment and contribute regularly working daily on stories. We try to follow the news, strangely enough I think we as a people are optimistic and confident about overcoming Covid and repairing and rebuilding of our country, and there are some very good reasons why. I think if we can only make it to Christmas we would be able to recover, the government the economy the state, education health care etc.
Personally I still have faith on our President we can look at Cyril Ramaphosa for strong leadership, goodwill and integrity. Things are hard for all of us I do respect and admire him.
My mother has passed away going for two years now but she made ample provision and some family members provide access to funds the estate is not yet finalized. My brother is a stalwart he sees to the household, municipality accounts, cooking and shopping etc.
I have for some time not had much freedom amongst others I have no car nor driver's license so I'm actually used to it. To say I am “caged in” would be really exaggerating! Anyway it is voluntary.
I know that we are very fortunate.
I really missed your poems I check regularly I look forward to now see “what you come up with” next, with all the academic training in the meanwhile! It will be interesting.
A long story but you asked for it! Good, your turn!
All the best, things will be Ok! Nolan &&

South Africa
Forgot to mention that we, me and my brother watch a lot of movies, and we keep up to date listening to radio programs and news bulletins and sometimes a newspaper. The lifestyle all of it is actually pleasantly boring.
Also, we live in South Africa I don't think I said that. Just came in from outside we've had a dry season so far but it looks promising for rain.
Hear from you! See you Morwenna, stay well! &&
