The Price of a Bag of Potatoes  

 

Today in St Luke’s they 

stuck a needle in my eye.
Unpleasant, but I could
afford a taxi home.     

On the news tonight a 
woman from Castleford 
walks six miles for 
cheaper spuds.

Some baby blues weep 
tears of raging red. Others,
the sleeper cells of apathy.
The blind who heal themselves.
