Hitting The Bottle

He killed his family when he stepped on the throttle.
It was because he couldn't stop hitting the bottle.
Because of his drinking problem, his family died.
He survived but the guilt made him attempt suicide.
He failed to end his life after the car crash, but he did try.
He didn't perish because it wasn't God's will for him to die.
Every time he looked in the mirror, he saw the face of a broken man.
Every time he looked, he saw a face that he could no longer stand.
He didn't mean to kill his family but he's the only one to blame.
Knowing that he ended all of their lives brought agony and shame.
Because of his alcoholism, his family had to pay.
But he straightened up and started going to AA.
He hasn't had a drink in over ten years.
There has been no more booze or beers.
He got better but he's still left with a horrible scar because of his terrible sin.
He stopped drinking and has vowed to help other drunks to never drink again.
