Waltz of the Lost Souls

White candy coated powder inhaled through sinful nostrils;
Each intoxication bring tears for they seize away loved ones, sons and daughters
Recreational tablets crushed into talc
Lustful delusions of contentment in their synthetic paradise
With their ideals broken, they dwell in their deluded dream
A vicious plague of seductive substances;
Infecting innocences of a fabricated bliss
Without knowledge they succumb to its aggression,
Diseased, corrupted, contagious; they walk among us.
Oh”I dream of an untainted paradise
I dream of waking to genuine bliss;
Without screams, cries or sorrows,
For beautiful veracity
Leave the wicked Tambourine man (1) behind and embrace,
Unsoiled, uncontaminated love that bestows us with virtuous ecstasy
I dream for them to realize;
The sinfulness of refusing to resist the crippling temptation that,
Soon propagate into an infestation that blinded them from the love they thought absent
I dream for them to experience pure ecstasy through companionship and love
Through perseverance, I dream of a promising reality
A radical view; decades before; we gazed at the moon with our wondrous hearts”an enigma
Succession of time: advanced; informed”our questions answered
A narrower view; a girl watches as her beloved friends sink lower, wishing she could do more”a dilemma
Succession of time: determined; faithful”her prayers answered
Perhaps realization isn't so far away
Sedated and unconscious; the living dead.
With each lethal dose; they wither.
Lifeless stares, paralyzed bodies
Slipping ever deeper, ever more willingly into blissful languor
I have seen lost souls waltz past me”oh, how I long to wake them
