Chapter 12
Cyber Soul
Unlike Captain Marks, Kian found the surviving Chimerans in suspension chambers deep beneath the surface of the Moon. After entering their minds through their dreams he offered each of them the choice of remaining human or allowing him to change them back to their former Chimeran state. Unfortunately, he was unable to change the Captain’s crew back.He was not God after all, a fact he well knew, therefore there were many things beyond his power.
All but Penny wanted to him to change them back, which he was happy to do. Once he reintroduced their Chimeran DNA, he cocooned their changing bodies in space proof shells and propelled them back to Earth using his Nano biotic enhanced telekinetic powers. In other words, he sent them back to Earth by sheer force of will.
Transporting the remaining inhabitants of Luna to Earth proved a bit more difficult and time consuming. However, once he had completed his fleet of Exodus ships and earned their trust he sent them all to Earth without a hitch.
Captain Marks cocooned by Nano bots completed his transformation beneath the great oak’ sheltering umbrella of leafy boughs, but would awake on the deck of his Sweet Lady, which had been perfectly replicated, and ready for the high seas.
Kian first priority was repairing all the devastation The Company under the guise of the Karkins had caused. Fabricating a benevolent and highly efficient army of robots from his Earth bound Nano bots he was able the rebuild Wayferra, insuring every Chimeran would have a home waiting for them when they completed their genetic restoration.
Gleaming elongated sarcophagi soon lay all over Chimera. Her children had returned, many of them anyway. Kian carefully deposited families together near their former homes, making their transition as smooth and painless as he could. It would be as if they had awoken from a terrible collective nightmare.
Captain Marks however had lost the people he was closest to so Kian made sure that when he awoke on his ship he was not alone…
Anchored near Wayferra Sweet Lady rocked on the shifting surf cradling Captain Marks seven-foot long shell as if he were her child, it was noon and sun shone down bright and warm. It radiance initiated a molecular reaction. The cocoon began to expand until it was double original size. Soon it stretched so thin that sunlight began to filter through waking the Captain from his deep slumber.
He opened his eyes saw that he was inside some sort of sack and frantically started tearing at it with his claws. Suddenly blinding sunlight streamed into his eyes as the claws on his right hand ripped the balloon like sack wide open.
Squinting and slashing, he finally slung his body free. Rolling across the deck, he jerked about struggling to orient his self. Finally face down on the wooden planks he realized he was on his ship. Even its rich cedar smell filled his nostrils another sense kicked in, the sense that he was not alone.
“Captain,” Marks jerked his head in the direction of Kian’s voice, but Kian was not there. He leapt to his feet and swung around his thoughts swirling his emotions shifting from anger to joy and sadness.
“Captain Marks I’m here,” a translucent ghost like version of Kian said as it rose out of the water to the Captain’s right, “don’t be afraid. I brought you back. Please help me help your people. Many of the survivors are at Wayferra. Go to them. Help them take back their lives and their home.”
The Captain cowered beneath before Kian’s holographic image as it hovered above in front of him. “Kian me lad ye dead, don’t hurt me.”
“Never Captain, I’m not dead, not anymore. This is not really me just a message from me. I’m with Penny; you’ll see us both soon. I have to find Kia. Please don’t fear. That time has passed. I killed our enemies. I will keep Chimera safe. I promise, please go Wayferra and help. I need that from you now. Can you do it?”
The Captain straightened his spine and nodded his head. “Aye, it,” he eased toward the high tech apparition, as his fear began to wane, “It is done.” He said, still not sure what make of Kian’s phantom image, “Ye did this, did ye not,” he asked smiling as he finally took notice of his new ship.”
“Yes, but I failed to save your crew. I’m sorry, forgive me Captain.”
“I do and I will, me boy, thank ye.”
Kian’s image smiled as it slowly vanished from sight…

I loved the idea of Captain
I loved the idea of Captain Marks escaping from the sacking, it reminded me of a butterfly escaping from its cacoon.
Great read ray.
