‘Better a dry crust with peace and quiet …
By Rhiannonw
- 1851 reads
… than a house full of feasting, with strife.'*
An open home –
not just to share
good food, but friendship –
and listen, care.
Some love to cook,
and have great skill
concocting, cooking
a meal to thrill.
But that’s not me –
I must not try
when having guests
to aim too high.
But cook them something
uncomplicated –
for my attention
soon gets distracted
by conversation,
so food that’s plain,
with peace, is bettert
than feast, with strain.
(PS And,
don’t envy those
who have rich meals,
if glittering life
much grief conceals.)

It's very true Rhiannon,
It's very true Rhiannon, fancy food usually comes with a stressed host and the kind of pressure which kills your appetite.
