[Continuing the hymn-for-Sundays series]

Why preoccupation with the dark –-
shivers, shudders raised just for a lark,
children teased with ghoulish horror  tales –
troubled hearts and fears such laughter veils.

Who is hiding message of the Light?
shining to bring hope in darkest night,
showing who is stronger than our fears,
and can comfort, dry, collect our tears.

Don’t abuse responsibility –
One returned from death who holds its key,
washing clean – proclaim the certainty
– present help, and blest eternity.

Just to say, I'm sorry not to have been reading this week. I have had an operation and recuperation has not been altogether straightforward, but hope to be back reading soon! Rhiannon

The only time I experience darkness is when I walk away from his light.  Hope and pray you wiil feel better soon.

Your hymn reminds me of the first few verses of the Gospel of John. I've allways found it very abstract and very powerful. Just my own thoughts not trying to interpret your words.

The title was partly based on the verses in John 3:19-21, which come after the wonderfully famous offer of John 3:16.

Children do so need to know about the Light, - as do we all always of course! Rhiannon
