How does a caterpillar change
and all its innards rearrange
into a dainty butterfly?
How do the swallows navigate
vast distances as they migrate
around the earth, across the sky?
How does a programmed human egg
develop, forming brain and leg,
and wonders of the working eye?
The more they research DNA,
and spacecraft venture far away,
the ‘how’s may often mystify –
some things beyond our comprehension lie.

It truly is amazing isn't it
It truly is amazing isn't it Rhiannon. The butterfly life cycle and all those eels toing and froing to the Sargasso sea back to the Thames, the mind boggles. 'Some things beyond comprehension lie' for sure and the more we find out the more complex it all seems.

Hi Rhiannon,
Hi Rhiannon,
isn't creation an amazing mystery, leaves you with so much wonder. I enjoyed your poem so much because it makes you realize how special and fragile we all actually are.
Jenny.

We have not been around long enough to appreciate evolution
Nature has had three billion years to get it right, but really it never gets it right. It is just the systems that work best under the situation they find themselves in.
Some argue it's God's way. In my mind the only way I can justify God's involvement is if he/she/it invented evolution.
(Personally I see it as biochemistry)
