Absolutely Unique

[Continuing the hymn-for-Sundays series]
How many philosophies? but only one
where God came as man, into history’s zone.
How many men murdered? once only one killed
returned back to life – as foretold, was fulfilled.
How many injustices – none was like this,
where one was condemned who’d done nothing amiss,
no sin, and so wise, kind and loving and true,
he showed who he was, and through death what he’d do.
There’s only been once such momentous a sequence
that’s brought to earth’s millions such far-reaching consequence –
eternal and sensible, practical relevance,
of pardon for sin, and his Word for our ignorance.
