Autmn's faces

Autumn – a time of change and chills.
Sometimes a glowing summer glimpse
with fresher warmth, not so intense;
sometimes a sodden grey
to close the doors, and shut away
the signs of slowing life, and death, decay,
and cheer each other with indoor heat,
electric light, cook something nice to eat;
and when the clouds move off
hearts lift at treescapes’ patchwork new display:
remember – every season has its days of grey!

Perfect Rhiannon, and all my
Perfect Rhiannon, and all my sentiments exactly. Loved the idea of the patchwork of new display.
Lovely poem.

Hi Rhiannon. This reminds me
Hi Rhiannon. This reminds me of the cosy nights in, indoor heat and nice things to eat and all the glowing shades outside. We're so lucky aren't we, to have warm, clean houses and such a choice of food. Every season has its grey days, you're right and I must say, living in the Thames Valley it's such a relief to lose some of that awful humidity.

yes, it is good to be
yes, it is good to be reminded of the happy contrast of cosy home from dreary grey outdoors :0) And agree too, when it's hot cooking makes the kitchen unbearable, but now yorkshire puddings back on the menu! My heart lifts at the bright colours, too. And we need the bleakness of bare branches under grey skies to appreciate the coming Spring
