The Bears Discuss

Paddington said, to Winnie-the-Pooh,
“I think I know what you should do –
Go on a journey to far-off Peru –
forget your honey and take a tip –
pack up some marmalade for the trip:
a taxi to London, a train to the port,
stow away below deck in a ship of some sort,
making sure it will take you all the way through
across the Atlantic, into the Pacific
(the Panama Canal links the two)
and then you’ll sail down the coast to Peru.
Sleep as the boat rocks, and in storms feel it shake,
and dip in the marmalade whenever you wake,
and then when you dock in Peru take a trail
to find my Aunt Lucy, and tell her your tale
of what London’ s like, and the forest where you
live with Tigger, Owl, Piglet, Kanga and Roo!”
‘But why’, said Pooh, ‘why should I go
away to a place I don’t want to know?
Here in the forest I know my way round
to all of the places my friends are found,
and they know I’m a bear of Very Little Brain..
Would you want to travel out there again?
Our writers have written for me and for you
stories of things that right here we must do:
the children, our readers, don’t want us to go
and vanish away to that far-off Peru!’

Oh completely wonderful. I'm a fan of Winnie the Pooh and absolutely loved reading that. This poem could appear in a collection for children. One of your best, Rhiannon!

This is such a charming poem
This is such a charming poem Rhiannon. I could just imagine Paddington bear meeting Winnie- the- Pooh at Paddington station and having this conversation.
Very well written and a tribute to those two lovable characters.
I actually wore my Winnie-the-Pooh dressing gown in hospital. Lots of the nurses complimented me on it, and wanted to know where I got it. I got the dressing gown in a Walt Disney shop way back in the late 1990s and it still looks like new.
Thanks for sharing this professional poem.
Jenny.

Thanks for asking about my
Thanks for asking about my convalescence Rhiannon. I'm doing fine, though I do get tired quickly and don't know where the time goes. It is frustrating at times, but at least I know things will improve now, which is the best Christmas present I could wish for.
By the way thank you for your prayers which were so welcome.
Jenny.
