Beauty: vast and tiny

In a wide green valley with its rim of knobbly hills,
Burfa Bog reserve by wandering Knobley brook,
– is there Ragged Robin with its wavy pink frills?
Oh, I havent seen it for so long, let’s look.
Spotted orchids, Campion (red and white),
but I can’t see Ragged Robin yet in sight.
Maybe we’re too early?
See, way over there,
is that just a battered Campion?
– No! my Ragged Robin rare!
Up the Dyke,
to scan a panoramic view,
awesome sweeping vista,
drinking it anew;
but the patch of yellow tormentil,
and the Ragged Robin’s frill,
stunning bright Marsh Marigold,
and the spikes of Bugle, still
caught my eye, and bent my knee,
made me look more carefully:
beauty, detail, pleasure, thrill.
