Full river –
soothing progress steady slow
gentle ripples in the flow
clear waters:
still and quiet all around —

not like the ‘Saturday Black Friday’ busy crowds
at the cafe/garden centre/Christmas gift shop:
we had thought to stop for a celebratory meal
but the wait would be so long
and such a throng:
bought some cheese scones
and escaped for our Wye stroll
under the gaze of Mynydd Troed
of the Black Mountains.

Then home for fish and chips
and home-made birthday cake!

Hi Rhiannon, I definitely think you made the right decision avoiding the chaos for such a beautiful scenic stroll. Those are such wonderful photos too.

Thank you, Jenny. Glad you enjoyed it too! The crowds weren't too bad but such a throng in the cafe and gift shop end. It was my husband's birthday this time. We were glad the weather was quite bright and we escaped most of the rain! End of November not always so! Rhiannon

Tranqual rivers,  love fishing - alone - and in the rain. I read about the fresh water fish in England, a bit boring but Pike sound a viscious preditor, the rest you cant even eat like bream but in the lakes the carp grow massive you have another methods for carp than here, they use breadcrusts quite elaborate methods.

Wel, I'm afraid I know nothing of fishing, and I wouldn't at present be able to stay out long enough! I have great respect for those who do have the knowledge, and also it sounds so relaxing.

You must have some lovely countryside where you live. Rhiannon

Yes there is breathtaking country and incredible wild but often you have to go rather far. 

But can you cook?! A meal for kings and fishermen?
