Disused gravel pit
became wild life haven,
deep waters.
Working now
to make reedy shallows
on the lake edge and islands:
more habitats,
more varieties of inhabitants
and avian visitors.
We enjoy a soggy walk to view –
suddenly clear evening light
over the lake,
between showers.

Hi Rhiannon,
you describe so well the way nature takes over abandoned land, turning it into a wildlife home for many creatures and plants. Reminds me of how hardy nature can be.
A thoughtful read.
Jenny.
