A brief history …

Not billions of years
– too stretched to imagine,
not billions of years
to achieve the impossible
– to grow complex machinery of life
in a rusting, aging, disintegrating
globe like ours.
Its history is brief – recorded:
a supernatural instigation,
and human degradation
– we wait a reconstruction
supernatural.
No signs of lost billennia vast
– beloved conjecture,
speculation
and assumption
of materialistic supposition –
our rocks were formed engulfing fossils fast
– tumultuous events we didn’t see
in earth’s brief past.

I don't know why there are not more poems about this. Well done tackling it. It's strange how we think we are the pinnacle of evolution and we've only been here a blink and are well on the way to overloading the balance without any comets or volcanoes or whatever did for the dinosaurs

Thanks, I don't know where your at with the evolutionary and billions of years (needed if there were to be evolution of life) dogma. It is so entrenched and assumed, yet as a scientist I stand happily with very many other scientists who demonstrate that the so-called 'evidence' of long ages is better interpreted by catastrophic happenings (fit well with the account of the world-wide tumultous flood recorded in Genesis in the Bible, with tales about it recorded elswhere), and the dating methods have to assume what the composition was initially, and constancy in the rates of degradation.

And even billions of years couldn't cause life to emerge and develop. But the idea of miracle and a God creating instantly as recorded in the BIble, worries people despite a liking for some supernatural presence! Rhiannon

 I expect you are fed up with people saying they wished they had your Faith. I guess it is like Jesus said: to  those that have more shall be given.

… though in the parable where he says that he is indicating that those who use well what much or little they are given, will receive more, whereas those who complain and don't use what they do have will lose. I think the application to faith is, honestly seek him, and he will help one believe and understand more! Rhiannon

Oh! Thankyou, that is not how I have understood it all these years. Although there are things like accepting and being thankful for what you have, not bearing grudges or being jealous, helping others all seem important parts of Faith which some of us struggle with, despite knowing it is the right way to be. I wish they were my default settings :0)

All our default settings are damaged – faith brings God's help and life into ours to help us get better at good things gradually (with many fallings down, and reaching out for help to get up and get on aright again)! Rhiannon
