Drifting with the crowd

[Continuing the hymn-for-Sundays series]

Without a thought to safety
(they didn’t see him go)
the child drifted away from them,
assumed that they would know.    

The parents suddenly realised
the child was gone – but where?
they searched and asked – they knew that he
knew not the dangers there.

And soon they found him – he was
surprised they were concerned.
How easily we drift from God,
and thoughts about His Word.

If you know such a one, go search
see whether you can bring
them back into the Way, with Him –
under the Shepherd’s wing!
