Dull-day Lamps

Daffodils are glowing
though the sky is glowering.
I’m glad that they don’t close
when sunshine goes
and downpour flows:
the roadside edge
has trumpet lamps
below dark hedge
a statement bold
in brilliant gold –
I am gold gift
‘til rainfall lift,
and flowers delicate reopen.

Hi Rhiannon,
Hi Rhiannon,
great poem in tribute to the lovely daffodil, sadly mine have blown over in yesterday's wind, though I'm sure they'll survive and stand to attention once again.
Enjoyed.
Jenny.

I think they glow even more in dull weather, Rhiannon. Enjoyed your poem.

Hi Rhiannon
Hi Rhiannon
Daffodils are very special to me too, as they are the flowers that grow on my husband's grave - which is in a woodland site, so relatives are not allowed to plant anything. But this time of the year, they make the place very beautiful. Later in the year, it is covered with thick unpretty weeds and I hate to see it like that.
