Even on the dullest day …

A wishy-washy day:
brown and tired-green, and grey,
views are clammy, torporous,
ruminations misty, vacuous;
up the hill, the curtained road
by sombre woods each side enclosed;
but, stirred awake, sight of surprise! –
a trace of white, highlighting –
a scattering of branches bear
here and there
a smattering of snow:
lifting, gifting
with touch of cheer in day austere.

Nice piece, Rhiannonw, I particularly savoured these lines -
ruminations misty, vacuous;
up the hill, the curtained road
by sombre woods each side enclosed;

It amazes me, Rhiannow, how stuff you read inspires you. I opened up a new document after I read this, and instead of staring a a blank page I had this picture in my mind of a road with woods either side, and that's how I've started my new story.

Rhiannonw, I told you that your poem inspired me to start a piece of writing when I was stuck for ideas, I had this picture in my head of a misty, tree-clad road winding down a hill, well now I have several thousand words so I guess it's going to be a novel. Many thanks!

Hi Rhiannon
Hi Rhiannon
How nice to be able to find some spark of hope and light within such a dull tired green landscape.
