Fast Forward …

Dashing through the countryside,
fastest laid-back earth-bound ride,
closing up the gaps between
towns far-flung from where it’s been.
Rarely pausing for free line.
hardly every losing time,
no roundabouts, or bottlenecks,
on-board loos, fast food and drinks.
Gliding into destination,
disgorging migrant population,
the train now waits on platform four –
whisk-through clean, then off for more.

Hi Rhiannon,
Hi Rhiannon,
this reminds me of travelling from Temple Meads in Bristol down to see an old friend in Portskewett, Gwent. All that lovely countryside. You're right about how much easier it is by train with refreshments on board and available toilets...not having to wait till you reach the next motorway stop off.
I find there's so much traffic on the road too, with everyone in such a hurry.
Great poem for the I P.
Jenny.
