Gentle march of the seasons

Spring hasn’t sprung
like a shot from a gun,
the gradual growth
of emerging shoots
turn green
in the air
while, unseen,
the lengthening roots
reach down to where
they can drink and grip.
Green triggers growing
of leaves more and more,
soon swards that need mowing
and flowers galore
– as Spring’s slowly going
morphing, gently flowing
into Summer!

A lovely tribute to the changing seasons, Rhiannon. Nicely done, of course.
I can't wait for lighter and warmer nights :)

this made me think of the celandines that spring up
along the path where I take my dog every morning. Every day a few more, soon they'll have to give way to the young sycamore and hedge parsley. It's lovely to see these old friends every spring.
Nice one Rhia!

wonderful tumbling rhythm,
wonderful tumbling rhythm, just as how the Season seems to gather its forces for the whoosh into Summer! And "galore" is brilliant, how you use it here

inspiration
The prospect of Spring inspires you Rhiannon! By us leaves have begun turning yellow now, weather seems haywire these days. Mostly one hears of record high measured temperatures worldwide. I don't know about here but definitely our climates are changing and unpredictably.
Our general elections are end of May, first of course it's Easter, and starts April.
Looking out for a rainbow my brother has a little digital camera now. A storm building up it sounds promising I love storms especially if you're outside! Thrilling!
It's raining now & Nolan

'Spring hasn’t sprung like a shot from a gun,' And we are off! The short lines and urgency ending in the slow down at the end lines - into summer. A very (for me) skilful poem.
