Happy Weary Industry

Labourers wearily industrious
in farm, field and hill -
will they more leisure gain
if machines take the strain?
Industrial revolution.
Folks flock to factory and mill
stuffiness and smoke,
industrious, work tedious,
monotonous,
‘We need wage to feed us
and friendliness to cheer us
but new machines may free us
from much of the pollution.
and even bring an internet solution
that we might Work From Home –
happily, industriously
but in this life it's
always sometimes wearily!'

food for thought
Food for thought & They want us to work from home so they can get more out of you. Exploitation. And Saving on transport office space etc. It is not a good thing. Not good for health either. Might as well live sleep in your office.
Keep well!

My brother likes working from
My brother likes working from home, but hates that his boss has a link on his computer to know exactly what he's doing all the time. Interesting what working from home will do to public transport. Also worrying for people who rely on workers' lunch breaks to sell food and coffee etc. But on a program I heard rtecently, a boss was complaining he couldn't get staff to come back full time anymore, and surely the internet energy used must be less than the transport and office energy? Some part of the solution we need, as you say. I hope all the caterers get new work
I don't know if it was the subject matter, but your rhymes made me think of pistons :0)

office life
I slept in my office for a while those days in the ivory tower. Spooky. No-one knows you when you're down and out. I did most of my work at home those days already it is not such a good thing. The one big thing is missing the traffic that is just time and money down the drain. And working at home saves a lot of money all-in-all but you hardly see any of it.
Reminds of TS Elliot – Preludes. Very good poem I'd give a cherry!

Hi Rhiannon
Hi Rhiannon
My son works from home, and prefers it to going on the train or bus - with extra hours and pollution, etc. He is soon moving to his new rented house. Just has to make sure his electronics work before he takes the final step.
