[Continuing the idea of one of my old hymns on Sundays:]

The Lamb who once was slain,
the Lion is alive.
He triumphed and will reign;
he’s worthy to receive –
all glory, praise that we can bring,
amazing song his children sing –
a purchased people worshipping.

He bought us with his blood,
from every language, land,
a kingdom, priests for God:
redeemed as grace had planned.
All glory …

Eternal One, the Root
of David’s mighty clan;
and Jesse’s promised Shoot –
almighty Son of Man.

Hi Rhiannon

Again, lovely lyrics for your hymn. I did wonder about mixing metaphors - with the lamb changing into a lion but I'm sure it is dogmatically correct.

Thanks, Jean. Again, written after a helpful sermon/exposition of the passage I think, and attention was drawn to the use of the two descriptive titles for Jesus, denoting his kingship and power, and his meekness, sacrifice.

Reminiscent of the awesome Aslan, allowing himself to be killed for the traitor Edward (oh, you said you hadn't read the Narnia books I think!) Rhiannon

I especially liked the second stanza, Rhiannon.

 So sorry I'm late in reading this week's little Sunday gem, but life gets in the way sometimes, which is why it is always worthwhile to take stock for a moment...the whole of this series an oasis of calm in the daily turmoil of life.
