I wish you were with me to cheer.
I’d love to again have you near,
enjoy springtime rambles,
ashamed of our grumbles;
    I wish you were here just to chat.

But I’m glad you’re not here when we see
the carnage and hate on T.V.,
the drunkenness, vomit,
and rape that comes from it,
    I’m glad you’re not here to see that.

So true Rhiannon, there are times when we can lose ourselves in a moment of bliss, usually in the natural envirment with a loved one (or alone...) And then we watch the news and wonder, how can anyone be happy when these things are happening in the world.

Thanks, Jane. We can still delight in what is good and beautiful, and long for the renewing and removal of evil, when all will be beautiful and good. I think also I had in mind to be glad sometimes that someone who has passed on has missed being hurt by witnessing some malice displayed or unpleasant foollishness heard, especially if they are now somewhere better. Rhiannon

You make a good point Rhiannon. I remember when my Dad was alive, him watching the telly and not understanding any of it, it was like it was all moving too fast around him, nothing made sense.  He would have been shaken about who could be elected President. The huge terrible problems the world faces now, gathering. I am glad he passed without fearing the future.

Thanks, Di. Although we can trust for the future, and an end of this damaged world will come and a new one is promised, but seeing present malice is deeply upsetting, and comes so constant and near on our screens, and maybe as you say particularly difficult for the elderly and confused, and those not hardened to such displayed on the screen either in news or such drama.
