Innovative Unknown Paths

Leaving the old ways
of long-known wisdom:
think new ways are more kind?
– no! blind to dangers,
unresearched
‘wisdom’ shallow,,
short-sighted, no foresight
warning signs ignored,
pitfalls unknown
may follow
and long may many wallow
in unexpected mires:
‘happier’ for now? maybe
exciting ideas of present lust and comfort –
arrogance makes giddy haste
but will there be a future barren,
lonely waste?
“I want it! now!” – is that the rule
for what is cool
and good for all
in days to come?

patience
“I want it! now!” – is that the rule? One of the central measures of emotional intelligence is postsponment of gratification. Used to be sometimes called "patience". These days, as you say, very scarce.

As you so eloquently & poetically noted, a lust for comfort, giddy haste,+++ and the cool arrogance surrounding it.... Well Done Rhian..... a poem with a view of the times we live in for sure*
