Inspiration Point, Bryce Canyon, Utah (IP)

I lift my eyes up to the hills –
from where does my help come?
from One whose might mountains can build –
land folded high, sea valleys low,
and canyons gouged by surging flow,
as draining flood the oceans filled
and left the sediments compressed
enclosing fossil prints impressed;
amazing amphitheatre founded
from river, winds that whirled and pounded
sculpting out the hoodoos etched
and honed into these shapes far-fetched,
whose colours catch the setting light:
spectators eyes inhale the sight
of beauty, with appreciation,
and ‘oohs’ exhaled from inspiration,
and ‘aahs’ of awe – lungs’ expiration;
erupting praise my spirit fills
for greater glory, abler skills
of He who is above the hills –
heart’s adoration overspills.
cf Psalm 121

Hi Rhiannon
Hi Rhiannon
Lovely poem, with a great description on how the canyon was formed. Truly and inspiration.
I have stood on or near that spot, and it really is remarkable, how no matter how well done the photos of the place are, they can't come close to what it really looks like.

This is a wonderfully
This is a wonderfully dramatic poem Rhiannon,
there's so many descriptions, that it took my breath away, especially looking at the photo too.
Great for the IP and very much enjoyed reading.
Jenny.
