[Continuing the hymn-for-Sundays series]

The King had come, His Kingdom was at hand.
The access-sacrifice was planned.
*So Satan tried to scupper, spoil, seduce –
See Jesus satan’s craft refuse.
Glory to God – His Word, the Kingdom’s Guide,
and trust Him, in His will abide.

Befriend, and bow the knee, accept His rule:
Awake, no longer play the fool!
It is good news, indeed it’s glorious –
He came to purchase life for us,
and in His service there is freedom true,
fulfilling work for me and you.

Learn of Him, He is gentle, kind and strong.
He knows our weariness, we long
to be more like Him – we’ll be hated too
as He was – He will see us through,
and what we gain is of infinite worth
– don’t choose instead vain gifts of earth.

Faith in a way is also a matter of deciding? Luckily we can think, and mostly rational!

It is 1 September, traditionally the first day of Spring in South Africa, soon will Pretoria's Jacarandas bloom the whole city purple, swallows return and all the green, we just hope for rain the weather has been a bit unexpected and extreme these days, it never rains but it pours.

A beautiful description of spring is in the Song of Songs! Let us hope! Nolan &

I think I looked up aerial pictures last year of your purple Jacarandas in the cities. A bit like the pictures of Japan at the cherry blossom times. Beautiful.

We of course are just starting autumn here! But that can have its beauty and freshness too, and the harvests ready for winter.

Faith is certanly not a 'blind leap in the dark' as some seem to suggest, but believing good evidence and the words of God! Rhiannon
