Look back, Look on …

[Continuing the idea of one of my old hymns on Sundays]

1. Look back – remember all God’s care,
look on – the way ahead
is known to him – he will be there,
walk on in faith, not dread.

Look back, look onward, peacefully
to persevere, and praise
your faithful Father joyfully
through all these earthly days.

2. Some memories cause pain, regret,                                            
and others, thankfulness,
– the struggles and emotion felt                                             
will mould us by his grace.

Look back, look onward, peacefully
to persevere ahead,
as by your Saviour faithfully
by grace you’re safely led.

3. The bonds of fellowship are deep,
though travelling far apart:
until we meet in heaven, we keep
these friendships in our heart.

Look back, look onward, peacefully
to persevere, and praise
your faithful Father joyfully
through all these earthly days.
