The Model Nobody Made

He had a solar-system model –
planets’ orbiting displayed
using calculated gearing –
and, with care, precisely made.

His friend came in and turned the handle:
‘How exquisite!’ he proclaimed.
Who’s the genius who constructed?
‘No-one did’, the owner claimed.

The friend was irritated, angry,
when told, ‘it just appeared, you see’,
but then he gently was reminded
of his own insistency

that that on which this gem was modelled
had had no Maker to design –
‘so why insist there must be someone
who produced this toy of mine?’

have you read Otto Ranks " art and artist " ?

Both form the other , art is an expression of the beuity and unity both with in and with out us

No, I haven't read it, just a bit about what its about, and don't fully understand that! But that creativity has need to be looking afresh always. As we are made by the greatest artist, and he has made us in his image, we all have a sense of art within and outside.
This piece is about the fact that an artist and craftsman is rightly praised for his work of art and skill, and yet many don't recognise that the whole creation shows the marks of its Designer, Creator, and like a model, couldn't just have come to being like this on its own.
