[Continuing the hymn-for-Sundays series]

A scoundrel lacking principles
delights to dig out vice
exposing, pushing into view,
turn minds to what’s not nice.

Unhealthy fascination with
such evil and then glad
to see destructive influence
of details sad and bad.

He is a verbal arsonist,
it’s difficult to quench,
extinguish scarring fires – don’t play
keep right away from stench!         Tune: CM

Dirty washing and digging up old cows no point in that. Not so sure about the expression, that is South-African.

Thanks. Sad subject. I've also noticed recently that when someone says 'sorry' about some wrong in their past and seems repentant, there can be an unwillingness by many to accept that. Presumably they think that they themselves have never done anything wrong , and are futily looking for politicians who have never done anything wrong. Rahter than be at least glad for those who admit and are trying to do better, and encourage them in that. Rhiannon

Thank you, Paul. I must tell my husband you appreciated that term 'verbal arsonist' as it was he had used it in notes on this Proverb that he had written! Rhiannon
