[Continuing the idea of a hymn for Sundays]

My times are in your hands, because
you’ve made yourself my God;
and through those times, I can rely
upon your faithful Word.
    My times are in your hands, Lord,
    and the future I can face, –
    excitement and expectancy
    are for every child of grace.
    I am not self-employed, for
    I’ve a Master great and true;
    and his commands and pleasure
    I will try to do.

My times are in your hands, O Lord,
and I should never fret.
My times are in your hands, – I’m free
to serve, my cares forget.

My times are in your hands, not man’s,
your strong and mighty hands;
I’m safe, I’m led, through life, through death,
– in everlasting bonds.

Thanks, Bee. I don't know about 'clever', it was one I wrote quite a time ago, I think after a helpful sermon, and it seemed to suit that tune, which we probably sung with the original words. I enjoyed looking at it and singing it again, and being exhorted in the truths! Rhiannon

Don't know this tune at all, Rhiannon, so will have to do some research.

No matter, the words are an inspiration in themselves. You never disappointsmiley

Thanks, Tina. I realised the tune was one people either know, or don't know, if you know what I mean! So I did attempt to sing it on soundcloud and put the link on in case it was a  help. Rhiannon

Hi Rhiannon

I didn't know the tune either, and listening to it on your sound bite, confirmed that. But it is a lovely tune and a lovely message. Your singing voice is very clear and true. And listening to the bits of you reading about your grandparents, your Welsh accent is much more evident. How good it is that you have that facility for offering to us to listen to you reading your work.

Thank you, Jean. One of my sons was staying when there was the Poetry Monthly about performance poetry, and he helped me sort out the soundcloud account, which was nice.

The tune is of a song that was new, modern, and popular about 40 years ago!! I'm glad you liked the singing too, I find it easy to tighten up my vocal chords when singing, or getting a cough, but at least recording is fairly private, and can be repeated. Memories of my grandmother's strong accent brought mine out in that recording I think, but I found I kept being dissatisfied with one part of the expression or another in it, partly as the reading needed to be fast! and I couldn't remember to pause it.
