Never Enough?

Am I envious of those who seem to have more
(don’t know what ways they maybe using it for
the helping of others more needy than me,
nor what their troubles and worries may be).
Contentment is precious, at peace, with ‘enough’
and spares us from bitter and festering fuss
of greed for a feast and the latest tech stuff!
(cf; ‘Give me this day my daily bread …’)

You never know what is enough, untill you know what is too much / The road excess leads to the palace of wisdom.
I read these in poems of William Blake, in the proverbs of hell.
Good luck! Tom

'Our life is frittered away with detail. Simplify! Simplify!'
Henry David Thoreau
(as many have pointed out... one 'simplify' would have been enough, Henry! )

I couldn't agree more! As film-maker Jim Jarmusch has said, too...
'The beauty of life is in small details, not in big events.'
These are the things that the poet notices (which is why we always need poets!)

We live in a capitalist society where advertisments everywhere are designed to make you feel inadequate. It takes a long time to work out what's important. 'Having enough' is a great place to be if you can get there.
Wise words, eloquently penned. Nicely done, Rhiannon.

Enough is Enough
Just watched a dvd with Jennifer Lopez a story of a violently abused wife with a little girl caught in circumstances, who has the guts to "break out" and "fight back" against the odds. A cowardly husband capable of anything. A jealous psycho man. Sick. Good story, good ending.
Some scenes are very tense, and obviously it has to end in hand-to-hand combat. Movies!
All the best Rhiannon! Tom
