New Year – not 1/1 (IP)

Another new year –
what lies before?
all of a flutter!
– what’s next in store?
New class and new teacher,
new subjects, new school,
new friends, or new bullies?
– will I fit in, look cool?
Now going away
to take a degree –
three years from today
from studying free!
I teach now, – the same
year’s annual start –
new faces to name,
year’s progress to chart.
Kids, teachers remember
(and every school Mum),
New Year’s in September,
not January One!
This week's IP= New Beginnings

I like the way this flows
I like the way this flows through time. There seems to be some happy pride behind these words, Rhiannon. And lots of new beginnings.

Sorry Rhiannon - stupid me. I
Sorry Rhiannon - stupid me. I could see it as several people at once, but decided on one.
I do like your poem, though.

With teachers in my family,
With teachers in my family, too, Rhiannon, I can really identify with this splendid take on the I.P.
Much enjoyed.

I can very much relate with
I can very much relate to the progression of this poem Rhiannon! And though it is about the various stages of acadaemia, it has a very pleasant lightness to it and skips along nicely. I enjoyed this flow of 'new beginnings'.

Hi Rhiannon
Hi Rhiannon
Coming from an academic background too, we also used to detail things are beginning from the September school year start. My husband was a University Lecturer, and I was in charge of one section of Adult Education at the local college and did some teaching. One daughter taught at University and the other teaches Pilates classes, but tends to stick to the school timetable.
I like the positive spin you give to the new school year.
